Redding Democratic Town Committee Elects Mike D’Agostino to Chairman

By August 22, 2018DTC News

The Redding Democratic Town Committee voted to elect Mike D’Agostino Chairman of the DTC at its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, August 16th. Mr. D’Agostino most recently served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Elections Committee, and takes over the leadership role from Dan Barrett.

Mr. Barrett said, “I am pleased that Mike D’Agostino was elected to replace me as chair. Mike has extensive experience with politics, and town and school government, is a tireless worker and a longtime Redding resident, and is very familiar with the local issues that affect our lives on a day-to-day basis. The DTC and the Democratic Party are in good hands with him at the helm.”

Mr. Barrett announced his resignation as chair of the committee in July due to his taking on new leadership roles at Western Connecticut State University, where he is a Professor in the Psychology Department. Dan Barrett led the Democratic Town Committee since September 2017, and was re-elected in March of this year. His resignation took effect upon the election of a new chair this week, and he will remain on the DTC as an active member of the committee.

“I greatly appreciate Dan Barrett’s contributions as Chair of the Redding DTC,” said Mr. D’Agostino following the meeting.

“During his tenure, he provided thoughtful leadership and made great efforts to engage and include every member. Dan’s open-minded approach helped to promote greater participation and led to a significant increase in membership requests. Dan has been a valuable asset to our organization for many years.”
