“The Democratic field operation was one of the strongest that I’ve seen and ours was a complete and utter joke,” former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst said. “It was an unmitigated disaster. When you are in a blue state as a Republican, you’ve got to have that field program. You’ve got to touch unaffiliated voters. The Democrats kicked our teeth in when it came to the ground game.”
