First Selectman: Julia Pemberton
Julia Pemberton is a six-term First Selectwoman and the municipal CEO of Redding, where she has lived since 1989. A lifelong Democrat and dedicated public servant, she brings over 25 years of experience in elected office, including service on the Region 9 Board of Education and Redding Board of Selectmen. As First Selectwoman, she manages a $18 million annual budget, oversees daily operations, and leads strategic planning and policy initiatives. She has championed government transparency, secured over $6 million in state and federal funding, and led efforts to reclaim and revitalize the Gilbert & Bennett Wire Mill site. Julia has also improved public safety infrastructure, modernized communications, and strengthened social services. Prior to public service, she worked in publishing and nonprofit communications. A proud mother of three daughters and soon-to-be grandmother, Julia remains deeply committed to Redding’s schools, community, and future development.
